Southwest Colorado Canyons Alliance fosters awareness and appreciation of the landscape and cultural heritage of Canyons of the Ancients National Monument through collaboration with the Bureau of Land Management.

Dear Friends,

As we welcome the arrival of spring, I’m excited to share Southwest Colorado Canyons Alliance’s 2024 Annual Report with you. This past year has been one of growth, impact, and resilience, and none of it would have been possible without your support. I encourage you to take a look at the report to see how your contributions have helped protect and celebrate the cultural and natural resources of Canyons of the Ancients National Monument.

Looking ahead, we have several exciting opportunities to come together as a community:

🌎 Earth Day Road G Cleanup – April 22
Join us in making a difference! We’ll be gathering to clean up along Road G in honor of Earth Day. More details will be available soon, but mark your calendars and plan to join us for this important effort. Please RSVP HERE.

🎨 Call for Indigenous Artists – Deadline April 30
We are still looking for Indigenous artists interested in showcasing their work at the Four Corners Indigenous Art Market & Workshops. This is a unique opportunity to share your artistry, culture, and traditions with the community. If you or someone you know would be interested, please apply by April 30!

Thank you for being part of the SCCA community. Your dedication to stewardship, education, and cultural preservation makes all the difference. I hope to see you at one of our upcoming events!

With gratitude,

A Note from The Chair

March 2025

Thanks for Showing Your Support

It has been very interesting the last couple months, to say the least. In my 42 years as a public employee, I never experienced the turmoil that the land management agencies are experiencing here at the start of 2025. SCCA is an organization that not only supports public lands, but we support those employees who dedicate their lives to the service of their country by managing those public lands.

I want to express a huge amount of appreciation to all those who have shown their support over the past several weeks, not only for Public Lands, but also for the employees as they endure unsettling circumstances in their daily routine. Some of you have expressed your sentiments in letters to the editor, posts on social media, and most recently, many of you showed your support by participating in numerous community events.

Your support is not going unnoticed by the federal agency employees. In talking to some recently they expressed gratitude, and said how heartwarming it was to see so many people show up at their offices and quietly and respectfully show your support.

You might have seen in the newspaper or heard from others, but on Friday March 21st, 66 supporters showed up at Canyons of the Ancients National Monument visitor center carrying signs expressing their love for Public Lands. If you were one of those individuals who were able to participate, a big round of applause to you. For others who have expressed your support in other ways again, you are also very much appreciated.

The Southwest Colorado Canyons Alliance will continue to work hard to show that we are the friends of the monument that care! We will continue work even harder to support the monument and the employees, by continuing to provide quality programs and activities that help to highlight the important resources and values of the monument.

Thank you for your support,
