Southwest Colorado Canyons Alliance fosters awareness and appreciation of the landscape and cultural heritage of Canyons of the Ancients National Monument through collaboration with the Bureau of Land Management.
I hope you are filled with the same gratitude that's been echoing through our hearts since Earth Day. What an incredible turnout we had for our cleanup event! The enthusiasm and dedication shown by our volunteers made a real difference in preserving the beauty of our beloved Canyons of the Ancients National Monument.
I want to extend my sincerest thanks to each and every one of you who participated. Special thanks to the teams from Osprey and Great Old Broads for Wilderness! Your hard work and commitment demonstrate the power of community and the importance of stewardship in conserving our natural treasures.
I also want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to the artists who graced us with their talent during the Blue Desert Tour, and to everyone who attended. It's heartwarming to see our community come together, and we so appreciate everyone's enthusiasm and support.
As we move forward, I want to remind you about several upcoming events that promise to be both educational and inspiring. On May 3rd, join us for a thought-provoking lecture titled "Visit with Respect: Reframing How Society Views Cultural Sites." This enlightening session, led by Semira Crank and Jeremy Martin, will delve into crucial conversations about responsible outdoor recreation and the preservation of cultural heritage.
Then, mark your calendars for May 11th, when we'll host a captivating Cultural Demonstration by Mark Stevens, a Silversmith form Laguna Pueblo. Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of indigenous traditions as we celebrate the vibrant cultural heritage of our region.
I invite you all to join us for these enriching experiences and more as we continue our mission to foster appreciation, conservation, and responsible stewardship of the Canyons of the Ancients.
