2026 New Site Steward Training Session Wednesday April 29th

Hello New Site Stewards!

Please join us for a training session to learn all about the Canyons of the Ancients National Monument Cultural Site Stewardship Program! During this meeting you will learn how to perform site monitoring, take annual baseline photos, and use the CSSP Web Portal system to report volunteer activities.

This session will give you a solid understanding of the site steward program and prepare you for the seasonal updates conference sessions that will be held on Saturda May 2^nd and Friday May 8^th. Please register and plan on attending one of these annual program update sessions. And, of course, it will allow you to meet other site stewards in the program!

We will cover all of the basic processes and procedures that are needed to perform site steward volunteer duties, use online resources, and learn all about the Canyons of the Ancients National Monument. Thank you for your dedication to protecting our cultural resources!

For our New Site Stewards, the training session will be held on Wednesday April 29th. It will start at 1:00 PM in the Lowry Conference Room and is expected to run until about 3:00 PM. We will also have an extended Q&A period to answer any questions that you may have. This session will consist of a small group of new site stewards, myself, and CANM Archaeologist Vince MacMillan. The small group will allow us to have a very relaxed and informal training session to introduce you to the program.

Please bring a water bottle and something to take notes with. Our program manuals and resources are all online, as we are trying to reduce printing materials as much as possible. If you have any questions about the session, please don't hesitate to email me with any questions.
