Envisioning a Cultural Landscape by Greg Munson and Ric Alling (45 min.)

The Society for Cultural Astronomy in the American Southwest (SCAAS) is working on protocols for data capture at cultural sites in the Four Corners region. The focus of this program is recording extended landscapes, horizon features and sky view astronomical contexts using drone, photogrammetry, geospatial analysis and image capture for high fidelity panoramic horizon modeling and desk top planetarium integration. Using these technologies and documentation practices has led us to recapture knowledge about Escalante and Lowry Pueblos that will benefit their descendant communities in reconnecting with their ancestral homelands.
